While every car seat sold in the U.S.A. must pass the minimum crash test standards set by the National Highway Tra c Safety

Administration (NHTSA), some car seats pass with better results than others.

HIC or “Head Injury Criteria” is a standard test required by NHTSA that measures the threshold for life threatening injuries to

the head.
